This week's color dare features the colors in the Close to My Heart Surf's Up paper pack:
This is such a fun paper pack and is continuing forward in the next idea book (in case you haven't gotten yours yet!) Here is my project - a 2 page layout, using a lot of the latest and greatest products, including flip flaps.
Flip flaps are AWESOME for adding dimension and interaction to your pages, as well as providing additional "space" for pictures or journaling. The flip flap is tucked under the dessert sand cardstock. After I placed the page in the page protector sheet, I used a technique to pull the flip flap to the outside of the page, so it could be opened from the outside and not tear the page protector. Last, I adhered a button and some baker's twin to the corner to signal "open me" to people.
I also created my own "washi" tape from the paper by cutting it to the width I wanted, tearing the edges to make the white core (all CTMH's papers are like this) of the paper show through and then adhered it down. Adds a great coordinating look!
Another cool technique - you can probably see it on the photos at the bottom better - is to distress the edges of your photos and stamp directly on it. It gives them more dimension and as long as it has enough time to dry, you're good to go!
Thanks for stopping in! Contact me or visit my website to get the products featured in my layouts.

How fun is that, Denise! I love this layout, and the flip flap is really clever. Your pictures are perfect for these colors. Thanks for playing at Color My Heart this week!

Thanks Sarah!! Slowly but surely getting my Caribbean cruise album finished (only has been 6 years!) :) I like using flip flaps, but i sometimes forget to add them.
DeleteLOVE this! I spy lots of goodies decorating your pages. I bought Sightseer on a whim and have gotten more use out of it! I'm really like how you added touches of it here and there. Thanks for joining us at Color My Heart again. We always love having you!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Becca!! Yes, lots of goodies. I added close up photos at the end so you could see the details more. Was in a rush to get the post up before the deadline, so added them for effect last night.
DeleteAgree on the Sightseer stamp! I got it at Album Retreat in March and was like "eh" but we used it a ton in the album we made there and I too find I pull it out often! If you go to my Later Sk8tr post, I made a cute card with it there.
GREAT lay-out and congrats on getting your vacation album done (slowly but surely). I this paper has some fun images, and you used them well to accent your photos. I esp like how you created a fastener for your flip-flap.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :) Maybe by Christmas it'll be done. haha Thanks on the fastener - not everyone realizes the flip flap is there (with or without it), but they seem to see it more with something there. I've used different tabs from the CTMH cricut cartridges for tabs too.
