Inspired By Blog Challenges - Mojo Monday #332 & FCCB #197

Got in some crafting time today & focused on a card I needed to make for a wedding reception.  I looked toward the Mojo Monday's #332 challenge for my design and as a bonus, it is perfect for the FCCB #197 challenge - "I Heart You."  Their colors are Tiffany blue, Silver and White.  So with the below sketch to inspire me, check out the card I created for them. :)

I have been itching to create something with a white-on-white over tone...it's in and it's outside my normal thought process, so this was the perfect chance to just try it!  I used an overlay from the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge.  The tag came from Artbooking as well and the Glitter Paper heart was cut from Art Philosophy. "Congrats" is stamped on a tag from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge.  The fun thing about this card ... ok, so maybe another fun thing ... is that the border piece behind the tag is a 1" cut from one of the pieces out of the MyCrush Besties Assortment.  These are such great accent pieces to use!

Hope you liked my card & hope my friends like it to!  LMK if you have questions about any of the products I used.

Inspired By Blog Challenge - FMS #121

Freshly Made Sketches blog challenge #121 focuses on a simple sketch with what I call the "power of three" design feature.  Here is my card based on this inspiration:

To get the splattered affect on the card, I used the Spray Pen.  Add water (or rubbing alcohol) to the 9th line on the spray pen, add a drop of the Create-A-Shade Pearl Paint and then as much reinker to get the desired color.  Shake well and then spritz away!  By using the Pearl Paint (not a have to; can just add reinker to the mix), the slatter has a pretty shimmer to it (you can see it well to the right of the owl).

Featured Products:
  • Spray Pen
  • Create-A-Shade Pearl Paint
  • Sunset Reinker
  • Lollydoodle Paper Pack
  • Pink Glitter Paper
  • Holiday Tags Stamp Set
  • Lollydoodle Assortment
  • Lollydoodle Complements (MyStickease)
  • Aqua Dots
  • Juniper Ink
  • Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge
  • 3D Foam Tape

Inspired by Blog Challenges - Muse #49

What can I say?  I might be a blog challenge addict now... cuz the crafty mojo and inspiration I get from them is exhilarating!! =P
Muse sunshine

I kept going back and forth with the Muse #49 challenge (above) for the week and as I flipped through the Artiste Cricut Cartridge image book, it clicked.  I wanted something a bit different than the traditional sun and the image (pg 79 Accent 3) fit what I was looking for:

Thinking of a simple but bright and fun color palette, I pulled out a Dream Pop B&T paper {retired 2013 promo paper} to cut my "sun" out on the Cricut.  For contrast, I used the Lagoon Washi Tape and as a softer tone for sunlight and brightness, I used the Honey Triangles Washi Tape (backed with White Daisy cardstock to make it pop more) for the runners. Same colors stamped for the Happy Birthday sentiment, raised with 3D tape.  To finish the card, I added some bling from the Sparkles Assortment.

I am also tying this card to another blog challenge, one that a fellow CTMH consultant, Pamela O'Connor, is a design team member for - Fantabulous Circut Challenge #192.

Hope you like my card as much as I do!! Thanks for stopping by.

Inspired by Blog Challenges - Color Dare #74 & Mojo Monday #326

Challenges will be a main focus for me during 2014 - one of my favorites is the Color My Heart Color Dare weekly challenges.  I haven't had a chance to participate in a while, so I thought I'd end my vacation by going after this challenge.  For my design, I merged the Juniper & Ruby color combo with the Mojo Monday sketch.

Here is my card, inspired by these blog challenges:

I cut the circular card base, the scalloped card (polka dots) and the juniper B&T ring from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.  I backed the silver geometric washi tape and backed it with white daisy cardstock to make it more sturdy and pop.  The washi tape banner, juniper base and happy birthday are all raised with 3D foam tape.  I used the CTMH alcohol markers to color in the present and the Slate stamp pad to ink the edges of the Juniper base and happy birthday tag.

This card exceeded my expectations!  It came together really nicely - hope you enjoy it and get inspired. Thanks for stopping by!!

Inspired By Blog Challenges - FMS#117

I totally got inspired yesterday by blog challenges.  Freshly Made Sketches has some great inspiration too and so I got crafting with scraps from the Cloud 9 National Papercrafting Month Cardmaking Kit.

I like the simplicity of the challenges from Freshly Made Sketches - here is what I created for their #117 blog challenge:

The Cloud 9 kit is ridiculously cute and gives a sneak peak at new products from the Close to My Heart 2014 Spring/Summer Idea Book.  The left picture is the outside of the card and the right is the inside of the card.  The sentiment on the outside "Today is a Good Day" is raised using 3D tape; underneath that is *new* Teal shimmer trim.  The gold polka-dot banner is actually *new* washi tape & the *new* Triangle Studs at the top left are self-adhesive.  Inside, the frame & sentiment are stamped directly to the card base. These scraps (the designer's goal for this sketch) worked out great to create this card!

To find out how you can purchase the Cloud 9 kit (starting January 1st) by emailing me, visiting my website, or reading my Cloud 9 blog post.

Featured Products:
- Cloud 9 Card Making Kit papers & accessories/embellishments
     - Durables Triangle Studs
     - Teal Shimmer Trim
     - Gold Polka-Dot Washi Tape
- Lagoon, Sunset and Honey Stamp Pads
- Happy Holidays MyAcrylix Stamp

Inspired By Blog Challenges- MM#325 & CQ#221

I decided to kick-start my crafty mojo with some blog challenges and went to this week's inspiration from Mojo Monday & Colour Q.

This was a duel inspiration and I missed uploading this post to Mojo Monday #325 :( but still a go for Colour Q #221. None-the-less, the challenges did their job and got me crafting!!  Here is what I came up with:

The Close to My Heart colors I used, that were closest to the Colour Q (SU) colors, are White Daisy, Moonstruck, Lagoon, Chocolate, and Juniper. It's hard to tell from this picture, but the Happy Birthday tag is raised with 3D tape and there are bitty sparkles on the swirls of the cupcake frosting.
